An eyewitness told P.M.NEWS that sympathizers could not salvage the situation because the area was flooded and there were traces of petrol in the flood.

A 32-year old mechanic who parked the Sienna bus inside the filling station, Oluwaseun Sonde, told P.M NEWS that on Friday around 3 p.m., he went to pick the bus at River Valley Estate in Berger, Lagos State, but on his way back, the bus developed a fault at Yakoyo Bus Stop and he could not restart it again.

“I was shocked when some of my friends who live around the area called me around 11p.m. and told me that the station was on fire. They saw me when I pushed the vehicle with the help of some guys into the filling station. When I explained to the owner of the bus how it got burnt, she gave no response and ended the call,” he said.

Meanwhile, residents of the area seized the opportunity to make brisk business by backing people to cross the flood for N100 per person.
Some of them also scooped fuel from the water with foam, not minding the risk involved.
