Dr Frederick Faseun, the National Chairman, Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) on Saturday assured Nigerians that his party would win some seats in the forthcoming Ekiti and Osun elections.

Faseun, who is also the leader of the Odua Peoples’ Congress (OPC), gave the assurance when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos.

“Certainly, the purpose of any political platform coming to being is to submit people for positions; that is what we will do and we are hoping to capture some offices by the grace of God.”

He said the party was not just working hard to ensure it won seats in the two states but in every state it fielded candidates for the 2015 general elections.

“Now that we are registered, we are working very hard to make sure that any state we present candidate, such candidate will win their elections.

“We will ensure we win some seats at the local, states and national levels. At the moment, various meetings are on to have a good preparation for 2015,” he said.

According to him, it is the only way the party could remain registered.

Faseun pledged that the party would ensure it met the aspirations and expectations of Nigerians who had kept faith with the party.

The chairman assured Nigerians that UPN was a party that would bring about the needed change in the country’s development.

The party would hold its national congress to elect its leaders, in about six months from now. The Independent National Electoral Commission on Friday 25 April in Abuja approved the registration of UPN.
