Mohammed Abubakar, Inspector-General of Police, has ordered a massive security cordon in the FCT to ensure a hitch-free take off of World Economic Forum in Abuja on Wednesday 7 May.
The order was contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Frank Mba, in Abuja on Sunday.
The statement said the measure was in line with a presidential directive.
“Abubakar, therefore, directed the immediate deployment of men and equipment in the city centre and satellite towns for conducive, safe, and secure atmosphere before, during and after the forum.
“He directed commanders to tighten security at all strategic and vulnerable locations, entry and exit points, airports, highways, hotels and venue of the conference.
“The I-G assured the citizens, international community and conference participants of adequate security.
“He added that the police were working in collaboration with other security agencies and called for cooperation of the public.”
