Police arrest alleged fake soldiers in Ogun

The police command in Ogun said on Thursday that it had arrested two suspected criminals parading themselves as soldiers in the state.

The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, stated this in a statement issued in Abeokuta.

Adejobi said that the suspects – Audu Pius and Emmanuel Ujah – were arrested on Wednesday at Ilepa village in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

He said they were arrested while parading themselves as soldiers and soliciting for charity for the army from residents of the area.

“Items recovered from them include two of their fake identity cards, military camouflage, purses, charity forms designed for Nigerian army and some money realised from the dirty business.

“The command deems it necessary to sensitise the general public to the antics of unscrupulous elements like these who are fond of engaging n dubious and criminal acts.

“They do this to the detriment of the innocent citizens of the state,” the statement stated.

He said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ikemefuna Okoye, had ordered full investigation into the case.

“The command will not relent in its efforts in combating crimes and other social vices in the state.”
