It was a triple treat for thousands of fans who thronged Ogbe Stadium, Benin City on Saturday 17 May as the trio of Wizkid, Olamide and Davido joined other stars to thrill at the eighth edition of Star Music Trek.
MAMA 2014 nominee, Davido, stormed the concert with his OBO crew. The artiste, who performed for the first time on The Trek and the second time in Benin,mesmerised the fans with his stagecraft and popular songs. Of special note was his latest single, ‘Aye’ which immediately threw fans into vigorous dancing with extended calls to the singer for more songs.
Badoo star, Olamide’s Ilefo Iluminati, First of All, Voice of the Street, Durosoke were some of the many songs the rap star performed that ensured that fans stayed on their feet singing along.
EME/StarBoi top act, Wizkid also had a spectacular performance. The singer, who was making his first appearance on The Trek this year, did not disappoint the fans. Wizkid was confident as he took over the stage, belting out hit songs in quick succession and eventually bowing out to resounding cheers from delighted fans. Also on the bill in Benin were Mavin Records’ stars Dr Sid and KCee.
Numerous talented home grown artistes also lit up the Star Music Trek stage displaying their vocal prowess in different genres.
On Saturday 24 May, Ado Ekiti will host the ninth stage of The Trek at Melting Point in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State. The exciting 10 week-10 city Pan Nigerian tour will culminates in a grand finale in Lagos at Jalisco Open Field, Oshodi on 31 May.
