Political activist and former president, Ijaw Youth Council, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, has enthused that the Golden Eaglets under the watch of Coach Emmanuel Amuneke are on the path of glory.

Dokubo, who was a surprise spectator at the FIFA/NFF Goal Project where the National Under-17 team handed a 7-0 defeat to Super Stars Academy at the weekend, said he was impressed with the performance of the team.

He canvassed for more encouragement and solidarity, adding that the technical crew under Amuneke deserves commendation.

“I want to give kudos to Amuneke and other officials because it is not easy to build a team from the scratch and turn them to a winning machine overnight,” said the founder of Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force.

“I’m impressed with what I saw when the team played against Super Stars because they played as team and there is good spirit amongst the officials which is very good.”

Dokubo also added that the team can only get better with the support of Nigerians even as he advised the technical crew against compromising undisciplined conduct.

“Throughout his career as a footballer, Amuneke was known for being a disciplined player and I’ll advise that he should impact same on his players,” demanded Dokubo.

“He paid his dues as a player and I see no reason we can’t give him the necessary support to succeed as a coach.”

In a related development, Coach Amuneke is expected to pick 20 players to prosecute the international friendly match against Egypt’s national Under-17 team in a double-header at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna on Wednesday and Friday.
