The police on Monday arraigned two women, Patience Osunji, 35, and Stela Ali, 38, in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, for beating up their neighbour.
Osunji and Ali who reside at No: 20, Ruga Market, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, are facing a one-count charge of causing grievious hurt.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Steven Kwaza, told the court that Ms Mary Onudeka of the same address reported the matter at the Sani Abacha Police Station, FCT, on May 24.
Kwaza said the accused persons conspired and inflicted grievous injuries on Onudeka’s forehead, without provocation, a punishable offence under Section 246 of the Penal Code.
However, the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Magistrate, Iliya Aku, granted them bail in the sum of N150,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Aku said the sureties must be resident in the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case until June 19 for further hearing.
