Rivers Police Bust 7-Man Robbery Gang

The anti robbery team of the Rivers State Police Command, Port Harcourt, south-south Nigeria, have arrested five members of a seven-man robbery gang after they allegedly attacked and robbed two residents, Zitta Gardell Nowood and Satimehin Richard at their residents at Eliowhani area of Port Harcourt.

A statement released by the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Commander, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, stated that a seven man gang of robbers invaded Eliowhani area of Port Harcourt to rob and in the process inflicted varying degrees of injuries on their victims.

Items recovered from the suspects included three laptops, jewellery, assorted GSM phones, N380,000 cash among other things. Ogunsakin said following a report, he deployed his anti robbery men to the scene to fish out the suspects and they succeeded in arresting two of them suspects in the area. He said during interrogation, the arrested suspects allegedly confessed to the robbery incident and led the police to the arrest of their accomplice and the recovery of some of the stolen items while two others escaped with bullet wounds.

Ogunsakin said items recovered from the suspects includes 1 HP laptop, 1 iPad, 1 BlackBerry phone, 5 Nokia phones, 4 machetes and one iron cutter. Ogunsakin said after investigation of the matter, all the suspects will be charged to court.
