Mavin Records first lady, Tiwa Savage praised her husband and manager, Tunji ‘TeeBillz’ Balogun in front of the entire Africa at the just concluded MTV Africa Music Awards as the source of her success.
The svelte singer, who won the award for Best Female Act, dedicated her award to her husband, thanking him for all the hardwork that has lifted her career so far.
“I just want to thank God, fans, 323 Entertainment, my label, MAVIN, my producer and boss, Don Jazzy and finally, want to say thank you to the most handsome and amazing husband in the whole wide world, TeeBillz. He has put in so much to make our story a success… thank you and I love you very much,” Tiwa said after receiving her statuette.
At the glittering event held on Saturday, 7 June at the International Conference Centre in Durban, South Africa, Tiwa Savage joined other Nigerian nominees to take home six MAMA awards. Other winners are rave singer Davido, who clinched two awards (Best Male Act and Artiste of the Year); Flavour (Best Live Act); and Clarence Peters (Best Video and Transform Today Award’ By Absolut) .
Tiwa later stormed the MAMAs stage to perform a mash up of Surulere with Dr Sid, Don Jazzy and Phyno wearing a customized sequined boyfriend Tee-shirt which had “Mrs Billz” written across.
Other performers included Fally Ipupa, Michael Lowman, Dbanj, Don Jazzy, DJ Clock, Beatenberg, DJ Kent, Big Nuz, Toofan, DJ Vigi, DJ Tira, DJ Buckz, Burna Boy, Sauti Sol, Ice Prince, Sarkodie, The Arrows, Khuli Chana, Dr Sid, French Montana, Miguel, Trey Songz, Davido, Uhuru, Mafikizolo, Oskido, Professor, Flavour, Diamond, Phyno and Yuri da Cunha.
