‘Sanusi Lamido Will Take Emirate To Greater Heights’

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, western Nigeria, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, has described the appointment of the immediate past Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, as one capable of taking the ancient city of Kano to the next level of development.
In a press release issued on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Rotimi Adebayo, the Speaker, stated: “the appointment of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the new Emir of Kano is a most welcome development capable of enhancing the continued sustainable socio-economic and human development of Kano.
“For such a highly educated, humble and most courageous man, who attained the highest pinnacle of his career as a banker of note, to have been named as the new Emir of Kano is something that should bring joy to all citizens of the Emirate,” Ikuforiji said.
Continuing, the Speaker said: “coming at a time when the northern part of the country is undergoing incessant attacks from Boko Haram elements, there is no doubt whatsoever that the new Emir of Kano possesses the much-needed qualities to join hands with other notable leaders in Northern Nigeria, to collectively work for the restoration of peace in the region.
“With the enthronement of another pro-people, and development-oriented personality of the status of the one-time Managing Director of the First Bank of Nigeria Plc, there is no doubt that he will use his international connections to attract foreign investors to Kano.”
Ikuforiji, while congratulating the new Emir, who was turbaned on Monday, and the government and people of Kano State, urged the people of the state to cooperate with Sanusi to enable him make positive mark in the city.
“In order to enable the people of the ancient Emirate of Kano derive maximum benefits from Sanusi’s tenure, it is very vital that the people of Kano join hands with him to enable him maximize his potentials for the speedy growth and development of the region.
“It is therefore our prayer that long may the new Emir of Kano reign. May the Almighty Allah make his reign a peaceful one and grant the new Emir the needed wisdom and understanding to rule over his subjects,” he said.
