Bosnia and Herzegovina manager Safet Susic has expressed his happiness about the goalless draw Nigeria’s Super Eagles played with Iran in their first group match at the ongoing Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup on Monday.
While the draw has generated negative reactions among soccer crazy Nigerians, wondering why the Eagles could only pick a point in a game that they were supposed to have won, Bosnia’s coach, whose team the Nigerian team will play against on Saturday in the second match of Group F is elated that with what he saw during Eagles’ match and the result, he is optimistic of his side winning the tie.
“Destiny is in our hands. Even if we play a draw with Nigeria and win the last match, we’ll be among the top 16 teams.
“Nothing is certain in our group, the most important thing is that Nigeria did not win,” Safet Susic was quoted as saying by sportsport.ba.
Susic, who featured at Italia 90, watched the match between the Super Eagles and Team Melli with his players.
The Bosnia Federation sent a spy, Borce Sredojevic, to witness the Eagles’ game played at Estádio Joaquim Américo Guimarães, Curitiba, Paraná.
Meanwhile, Hoffenheim central midfielder Sejad Salihović is racing to be fit for the Dragons clash with Nigeria on Saturday.
The goal – scoring midfielder sat out the 2 – 1 loss to Argentina last weekend after failing a late fitness test.
But things are now looking slightly positive for Sejad Salihović and manager Safet Susic, as the player had an individual session on Tuesday during the team’s workout at Guaruja.
That was the second training session held by Bosnia and Herzegovina in the wake of their defeat to Albicelestes at the Maracana.
While there is still hope for Salihovic, the same cannot be said about Godfrey Oboabona, who is definitely out of the match against Bosnia.
