Team Lafarge To Support Eagles In Brazil

A 10-man Team Lafarge is expected to go on tour of Brazil in the ongoing 2014 FIFA World Cup with the major aim of drumming support for the Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the mundial.

The team are going to the World Cup courtesy of Lafarge Cement WAPCO Nigeria Plc, which is rewarding its customers and staff for a long time loyalty and support.

At the unveiling of the delegation on Monday in Lagos, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the company, Mr. Joe Hudson told a gathering that included former Nigerian international and World Cup goalkeeper, Peter Rufai and seasoned sports journalist, Godwin Enakhena, that Lafarge is celebrating its customers and the good nation of Nigeria which team, the Super Eagles are campaigning in their fifth World Cup.

“The true thing about this country is that football has been a unifying factor and we believe giving our customers the chance to see the country’s team live in Brazil will be a worthwhile experience,” the CEO said.

According to Mr. Hudson, while in Brazil, Team Lafarge will have the opportunity to watch the last group match of Nigeria against Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina on 25 June in Porto Alegre.

“My advise to Team Lafarge is that they should go to Brazil and be safer and shout loud to support Eagles and have an excting trip,” he said.

A member of the team, Mr. Peter Jitobor, a leading customer from the Eastern part of the country,  promised that the delegation will be good ambassadors of the company, while ex-Eagles goalie, Rufai said: “I’m always happy seeing Nigerians coming out to support the national team in a situation like this. I must commend Lafarge for taking these people to Brazil to support the Eagles.

The event, which was hold at Planet One in Maryland, Ikeja, was spiced up with guests watching live match of Nigeria versus Iran which ended in a barren draw.
