Gospel music not for Christians only
Wale Oni, a music producer, said on Friday that gospel (Christian) music is for everybody irrespective of their religion or beliefs.
Oni, who produced the popular gospel pop hit track, “Igwe” by Midnight Crew told NAN that gospel music could be played anywhere as long as the people would listen to it.
He noted that what was important about gospel music was for the message to affect its listener positively.
“Gospel artistes themselves are doing what they can to promote their music and go out of the church.

“It used to be the norm back in the days that gospel music was only for the church people but now gospel music is for the world.
“So Gospel music itself is doing its best to reach out to millions of people all over the world to be able to know the truth about God.
“And also to bring good message which is what the essence of gospel music is supposed to be – good message – and something that would inspire you and motivate you to greatness.
“The first importance of gospel music is to be heard, noting that, “Even Jesus said, ‘preach my Gospel to the entire world”.
“He didn’t say preach it in the mosque or preach it in the market place.”
Oni said that he and other like-minded individuals were working on forming a body that would unite gospel musicians nationwide.
He said that the group would hold its inaugural meeting at the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s City of David in Ogudu, Lagos.
