Sokoto Spends N70m On Almajiri School

Sokoto State Government has spent about N70 million on the construction of the first phase of the Almajiri school in Dange-Shuni Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Tukur Alkali, has said.

Alkali told NAN in Sokoto that the project was part of measures to offer children access to quality education and end street begging in the state.

“The school will serve as a model for the provision of sound Islamic and western education to the children,” he said.

According to him, work on class rooms, hostels, mosque, dining hall, staff room and fencing of the school has been completed.

He assured that a conducive environment for teaching and learning would be created to encourage the children to remain in school.

The commissioner urged parents to enrol their children in formal schools to secure their future and that of the state.
