Akunyili: Nigeria Has Lost A Patriot —NIPR Boss
The President and Chairman, Governing Council of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Rotimi Oladele, has joined other Nigerians, including professional bodies, in expressing his condolence on the death of the former Minister of Information, Prof. Dora Nkem Akunyili.
Oladele, in his condolence message to the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku and the Director General of National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii, said the demise of the former DG of NAFDAC was a shock.
In a statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media to the President of NIPR, Dr. (Mrs) Grace Achum, Oladele said that Nigeria has, indeed, lost a precious scholar, whose vacuum will be difficult to fill for a very long time to come.
Oladele eulogised the late Prof. Akunyili for the unprecedented work she did while alive, especially the cordial relationship still existing between NIPR and NAFDAC on one hand and that of NIPR with the Federal Ministry of Information on the other, the foundation of which she laid.
The NIPR boss, encouraged both the current Minister of Information and the DG of NAFDAC to continue in the nurturing of the legacies she laid before her demise, and prayed the Almighty God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
