Ogun PDP Loses 1,000 Members To Labour Party

Over 1,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State on Thursday, 21 June, 2014, decamped to the Labour Party.

The event which was witnessed by Labour Party members in the nine federal constituencies of the state took place at the Ogun East Senatorial office of the party along Ondo road in Ijebu Ode local government area of the state.

Speaking at the meeting, the state Chairman of the party, Comrade Niyi Osoba noted that the favourite party of the indigenes of the state is Labour Party because it has good welfare packages for the people and the party is set to liberate the people of the state .

He said the Tai Solarin University of Education was established by the government led by Otunba Gbenga Daniel and a lot of good projects will also be embarked upon if Labour Party took over the control of the state in 2015.

The state Leader of the party, Otunba Gbenga Daniel while addressing  party members said he is happy to be in Ijebu Ode for the meeting.

He noted that he is yet to get a response to all he has said about the performance of the incumbent administration in the state.

“Our administration made a lot of efforts in making sure that a refinery is established in the state, before we left office, Dangote had been given land at Ode Omi ward of Ogun Waterside local government after which an agreement was signed and all that was requested by Dangote to start the project was that the state government should tar the road leading to the site, which is Ode Omi, Itire, Makun Omi, J4 and Express road with a bridge in between.

“According to estimates the road will cost N5 billion and it was part of what we wrote in the handover note given to the present government but because of the cluelessnesss of the administration, they allow a major project in which a lot of our people will benefit from elude us,” he said.

He also emphasized that Labour Party is in support of   the President Goodluuck Jonathan-led administration and will do everything possible to ensure that he emerges the winner of 2015 presidential election in the country.

In his address, Mr. Remi Hassan representing Odogbolu Constituency at the state Assembly noted that the party’s campaign will be based on issues and not sentiments.

“Tai Solarin University, Ijagun must stay against the wish of the state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to scrap the institution. The school is one of the initiatives of the Otunba Gbenga Daniel led administration. Thank God, Amosun did not see the two thirds of the House of Assembly members to support the scrapping of the institution,” he said.

Leader of Loyalty Network, one of the groups that dacamped to the party, Islamiya Ojo was full of appreciation to Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

“Leaders of PDP have been deceiving us. They said OGD is still coming back to the party but on investigation we knew OGD is in Labour Party and the group decided to join the winning team. By 2015, Labour Party will win Ogun State,” she said.
