Unidenfied gunmen dressed in military uniform have shot and killed two policemen and two civilians at Ikirun-Oke, near Ibilo in Edo State, southern Nigeria.
The state Commissioner of Police, Foluso Adebanjo who confirmed the incident, said three other policemen, including an Inspector who were said to have been injured during the shooting, are currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.
Adebanjo disclosed that the policemen were travelling from Abuja to Lagos in an 18-seater police bus marked NPF 3148 C when they were flagged down by the gunmen who suddenly opened fire on them, killing two of the policemen and injuring three.
It was not however clear whether the two civilians who lost their lives were travelling with the policemen.
Meanwhile, the remains of the policemen and the civilians have been reportedly deposited an Anyakur Specialist Hospital at Ibilo.
