Insecurity: Traditional ruler suggests inter-marriage
Peter Angbazo, District Head of Wakama in Nasarawa State, on Thursday called for inter-tribal marriage among Nigerians as a way of fostering peace and unity in the country.
Angbazo made the call in an interview with NAN at his palace in Akun Development Area of the state.
“Because of the lingering insecurity problems in the country, I want to advise and encourage Nigerians on inter-tribal marriage as a means of fostering peace and unity for the overall development of the country,” he said.
He said the call had become imperative due to the security challenges facing some parts of the country and the importance of peace and unity to the development of the nation.

According to him, the importance of inter-marriage in any society was to promote peace and unity, and urged Nigerians to embrace it for the benefit of all.
“The security challenges facing the state and some parts of the country have affected our lives and the socio-economic development of the country negatively.
“It is our role and indeed the role of every Nigerian to ensure peace, unity, progress and the development of the country.
“Without peace no meaningful development can be achieved in any society, peace is priceless and non-negotiable, and there is the need for people of the diverse ethnic, political and religious groups to embrace peace,” Angbazo said.
While commending his subjects for living in peace and harmony with one another, the traditional ruler advised them to shun acts that would cause disunity or disharmony between them and their neighbours.
Angbazo also commended the state and federal governments for their efforts in restoring permanent peace in the country.
