The Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition of Nigeria (ACC), in conjunction with NIROPHARM, marked this year’s edition of the World Anti-Counterfeiting Day in Lagos with a visit to media houses.

Tee Mac Omatsola Iseli, flutist and Chairman of ACC’s Publicity Committee, who led the ACC team, said the theme for this year is Say No To Fake: You Could Be The Next Victim. He disclosed that the theme was chosen to drive home the dangers of counterfeiting and its attendant risks.

“The truth is that it could happen to anybody. Nobody is immune to the dangers of fake and counterfeit products. The Nigerian government, brand owners, and the general public suffer as a consequence of this illicit trade. It is for this reason that the ACC, in conjunction with NIROPHARM are collaborating to create awareness on the issue,” Tee Mac said.

ACC Nigeria is a non-political non-governmental not-for-profit organization which was formed in October 2008 as an advocacy group to assist in reforming intellectual property laws in Nigeria.

The objective is to bring brand owners regulatory agencies, interested parties and the general public together in order to combat counterfeiting and piracy in Nigeria, while NIROPHARM is the umbrella body of the Nigerian representatives of overseas pharmaceutical manufacturers.
