Lagos State chapters of Association of Professional Drummers of Nigeria (APDON) and Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) are at war over supremacy.
P.M.NEWS Entertainment Cafe gathered that the supremacy battle ensued recently at the anniversary of Ikorodu unit of APDON in Ikorodu, Lagos, western Nigeria.
An impeccable source disclosed that the Lagos State chairman, Jimoh Ayankojo’s speech delivered at the event among other issues declared that musicians and drummers are independent professional colleagues and masters of the art in their respective rights and no one is superior to the other.
The source added that Ayankojo’s speech apparently irked the Ikorodu PMAN chairman, Wale Adegbite, who openly challenged Ayankojo, arguing that the statement was baseless, unethical and rude.
Sequel to the incident at the ceremony, the leadership of APDON has ordered its members to boycott all Lagos State members’ shows and engagements until further notice.
Speaking with our correspondent, Ayankojo confirmed the feud and the embargo but efforts to contact Lagos PMAN governor were futile as he was said to have travelled out of Lagos by his manager.
