Respite finally came the way of 2,000 workers sacked by Governor Ibikunle Amosun in 2011 as they are now to be re-absorbed into the civil service.

The workers who were employed by the Otunba Gbenga Daniel administration towards the end of its tenure, were sacked by Amosun on the grounds that their employment did not follow the due process.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun revealed his change of mind during an interaction with civil servants in the state as part of activities marking this year’s Civil Servants week.

The governor directed that all the affected people should, with immediate effect reapply by submitting all their credentials at the office of the Civil Service Commission and Teaching Service Commission’s office, TESCOM.

It was gathered that some of the disengaged workers were employed late in 2011.

“We have said it times without number that every action taken by us, will have a reasonable not partisan. When we came on board and saw the way those employed then came in, the only option left to us, was to terminate their appointment and ask them to reapply. Those that we could absorb then were taken back.

“Now, I have directed that others should reapply and they would be re-absorbed into the civil service and this is far from political statement as being peddled around by some mischief makers in the state.

“Some are even saying, it was because of what happened in Ekiti that made us do all these. My question to them is that are we just waking up after Ekiti election to do all these? to sign cheques for severance packages for the former political office holders, for the benefits promised the civil servants now? All their statements are far from the truth. We are doing everything to ensure that our people in the State benefit from the dividends of democracy,” he said.

Investigation by our correspondent revealed that as at the closing hours of work yesterday, over 100 people have submitted their credentials as many were seen around the Teaching Service Commission office in Block A at the Oke Mosan Secretariat.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun has addressed a lot of issues needing his attention for rectification.
