Jonathan leaves for ECOWAS summit in Accra

President Goodluck Jonathan left the country on Wednesday for Accra to participate in the Summit of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government scheduled to open in the Ghanaian capital on Thursday.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati.

The statement said that Jonathan and other Heads of State and Government attending the summit would consider and adopt the 2014 Interim Report of the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Kadre Ouedraogo.

It stated that the participants will also deliberate on the report of the 72nd Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Council of Ministers.

According to the statement, the two-day summit will equally discuss the report of the 32nd Session of the regional body’s Mediation and Security Council.

The president is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali; the Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga.

He is expected back to Nigeria at the end of the summit on Friday, the statement said.
