Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ogba B Branch, Lagos, Comrade Hakeem Adegoke, popularly known as Ajuna is dead.
He died at about 7:00 p.m., Thursday on his way to Ogbomoso, his birthplace.
His death sent shock waves throughout Ogba and its environs as his supporters gathered in groups discussing what might have caused his sudden demise.
Comrade Rasaki Adewoyin, Secretary of Ogba/Ijaiye branch confimed the death of Ajuna when our correspondent contacted him on Friday morning.
According to him, “I was at home when I received a call that my chairman is dead. It was reported that he fell sick yesterday afternoon, complaining of stomach pains and headache and told his driver to take him to his village home in Ogbomoso, where news came that he is dead.
“Nobody actually knows what transpired or what he ate. It is a mystery.”
When P.M. NEWS visited the Branch B office of NURTW at 2, Yaya Abatan Street, Ogba, Friday morning, branch officers declined to speak about the death of their chairman.
Only one of them, Shorimade Woko, described the late chairman as “the best we have had.”
Woko said: “Ironically, Ajuna as a chairman of B branch, which is the highest of all branches in Ogba, recorded tremendous peace and tranquility during his tenure. We are going to miss him and it is only God that knows exactly what happened.”
The late Akeem was married and had three children.
