#BringBackOurGirls: 90 Days Since Chibok Girls Were Kidnapped
It’s 90 days since over 200 schoolgirls were kidnapped by Islamist sect, Boko Haram on 14 April in Chibok village, Borno state. Efforts have been made by local and foreign security forces to get the girls back but hopes of their return dwindles by the day.
In a recent video 16-minute video obtained by AFP on Sunday 13 July, Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau mocked the campaign on social media and protest of #BringBackOurGirls held across the country and world over.
The girls, whose abduction has drawn unprecedented attention to Boko Haram’s five-year rebellion, are not pictured in the video, which was given to AFP through similar channels as past messages.
One previous recording showed more than 100 of the hostages, some of whom are Christian, reciting Muslim prayers.
