LASU Best Graduating Student Gets Scholarship

The Oba Adeniji-Adele Foundation is to award scholarship worth N1.65 million annually to the best graduating student of the Lagos State University, LASU, to pursue a post-graduate course in any discipline.

Disclosing this at the launching of the Foundation at the Lagos City Hall, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, the children of the late Oba Musendiq Adeniji-Adele said the scholarship was instituted to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his death.

Former Lagos Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele, said the N1.65 million ($10,000) scholarship grant was to immortalise the late Oba who had a drive for ensuring academic excellence within his domain.

Adeniji-Adele disclosed that the grant was an educational aid scheme and would be managed by the Foundation.

He described it further as an intervention package that would be given annually to the best graduating student of LASU to pursue a post graduate course in the best institution anywhere in the world.

Adeniji-Adele disclosed that a board of trustees had been constituted and charged with the responsibility of administering the foundation.

The board is composed of Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi as Chairman, former Federal Minister for Planning and Statistics, Dr. Habeeb Adeniji-Adele, Mr. Adekunle Ajanaku, Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni, Ms. Rafiat Umar and Prince Babatunde Adele will serve as the General Secretary.
