The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa has described the impeachment of former Governor Murtala Nyako, as a plan by PDP to invade opposition states.

This was contained in a statement by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Rev. Phineas Padio, in Yola on Wednesday.

Padio said the party condemns the “crude show of power”’ deployed against the APC and people of Adamawa.

“The impeachment saga clearly climaxed PDP’s plan to invade our dear state.

“The state chapter of the party condemns in strong terms the crude show of power which was deployed against our dear state and its people,” he said.

He said the impeachment signalled a “rape” of democracy that must not be allowed to stand, alleging that the impeachment of the former governor was planned by PDP politicians in Abuja.

“Over time, these PDP politicians in Abuja have left no one in doubt that they are threatened by APC’s growing popularity and were also rattled by Nyako’s goodwill.

“Hence the use of immoral, illegal and unconstitutional means to seize power from him,” he said, adding that, the impeachment would not stand as the matter was before the Supreme Court.

“The purported impeachment cannot stand. It cannot stand because the apex court of the land inspires our confidence and will in no distant future reverse the evil that has befallen us.”

Padio appealed to the supporters of the party in the state to remain calm and peaceful, and urged them to cooperate with the leaders of the party in the state until justice was done.
