Miss Iheoma Nnadi, Nigeria’s most beautiful girl, said on Thursday that she would use her crown to support the fight against the social vices prevalent in the country.
Nnadi, 19, won the just concluded 2014 beauty pageant held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa. Nnadi intends to use her new position to motivate young girls of her age to support the fight against sexual exploitation, hawking, and street begging in the country.
Nnadi, who hails from Imo, represented Akwa Ibom at the pageant, where she beat 29 other contestants to the beauty crown. “I’m going to start with my pet project as soon as I can—which is on Child Trafficking.
“Let’s try and beat down child trafficking, forced labour, sexual exploitation, hawking, begging on the street with children; let’s try and eliminate all of that.
“So, that’s definitely what I would like to start with my crown and then I’d like to have seminars where I can encourage other girls, who are young as well and want to be in a pageant but just don’t have enough confidence to.
“So, a motivational talk would be good with girls my age. I’m going to attach to a foundation; starting my own foundation, no. But attach to another foundation, that I have already started; to make it stronger would be better.”
Nnadi, who is a student in South Africa, also disclosed her plan to take a year away from school to fulfill the obligations of her crown as the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2014.
The pageant, which is organised annually by Ben Murray-Bruce’s Silverbird Group, was the 27th edition of the contest.
The winner usually goes on to represent Nigeria at the Miss World beauty contest.
