The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday both claimed that victory will theirs when the 9 August governorship election is concluded on Saturday.
Although the APC claims that the bias of security operatives is worrying and disturbing. “The security men have already shown their partisan hands, but by the grace of God, those who sent them and they themselves will fail and Aregbesola will be elected as governor again,” said Senator Sola Adeyeye, Director-General of Aregbesola Campaign Organisation.
But the Osun State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Prince Bola Ajao countered and claimed that nothing and no one could stop his party or candidate from winning the governorship election on Saturday.
“We are very confident, we have done our home work, we are on ground, we are rock-solid, we are everywhere. The Osun people have seen, they have tasted power under these two major political parties and they have seen clear enough that PDP is the best and I can assure you that Osun people and the PDP are on the same page. Come 9 August, 2014, PDP’s Omisore will cost home to victory,” Ajao said.
He said it was unfortunate that Olagunseye Oyinlola, a former governor of Osun, who decamped from the PDP to the APC on Tuesday, decided to bite the hands that fed him, but maintained that nothing could stop the party from winning.
He described the stakeholders meeting organised by the Independent Natioal Electoral Commission, INEC, as a step in the right direction, adding that the meeting afforded all stakeholders the opportunity to address the issues at stake.
The stakeholders meeting started around 11:00 a.m. but Iyiola Omisore, arrived a few minutes to 3:00 p.m. By that time Rauf Aregbesola of the APC, had already taken his leave.
