Scores of who-is-who in the Nigerian entertainment industry on Monday 5 August breezed into Washington DC, United States.
The Nigerian stars, in two batches, are in the United States capital were invited to be part of the first-ever US-African Summit, hosted by the United States President, Barack Obama, and also attended by Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan and 49 other African leaders.
The first group of stars include Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Flavour Nabania, Tosin Martins, Rita Dominic, Ali Nuhu and Jedi. They are all in the United States, courtesy of Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation.
The other group include Femi Kuti, D’Banj, Omawumi and Cobhams Asuquo, who formed part of the Bono’s global humanitarian group, ‘ONE Campaign’, also invited to be part of some activities during the three-day US-Africa summit.
Femi Kuti’s team was at the White House to meet the Obama administration officials and intimate them on the need to further help raise awareness about agriculture in Africa.
While the Don Jazzy team headlined and performed at the ‘Nigeria Our Heritage Concert’ held on Monday night at The John F Kennedy Memorial Centre for the Performing Arts in Washington DC. The event was organised by the Nigerian government.
At the concert, it was a mix of old and classic hits from Nigerian legends. The team later moved to Shadow Room, a swanky lounge, on 2131 K Street, NW Washington, DC for the after-concert party.
The US-African Summit is a three-day summit organised under the theme of Investing In The Next Generation.
