The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Edo on Thursday said it had concluded plan to redeployed teachers to rural areas.

A member of the board, Malam Suleiman Ali, said this in an interview with NAN in Auchi. Ali, who was reacting to complaints of lack of teachers in some schools in Edo North Senatorial District, said teachers would be posted to schools that had shortage of manpower before the commencement of next session.

“Before the commencement of 2014/2015 session in September, more teachers will be redeployed to the rural areas where their services are needed.

“And effort is on to ensure that more teachers are recruited to fill vacant places,” he said.

Ali said the board had set up a committee to identify areas where the teachers are needed.

He said that although there were enough teachers on the state payroll, they were concentrated in the city.

He, however, said that the board had taken measures to ensure the provision of qualitative education to the citizens of the state.
