Accreditation peaceful in Osogbo as voting commences

Amidst tight security but without any form of harassment, accreditation exercise at various poling units monitored in Osogbo, capital of Osun State was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.

Most of the electorate who turned up for the accreditation were accredited. P.M. NEWS gathered that some voters got to the polling units as early as 4:30 a.m. because they wanted to make sure that they were accredited as early as possible.

While accreditation finished on time in some polling units, the accreditation is still going on as at the time of filing this report in some polling units with large turnout.

But generally, there was a large turnout for the election. Most people were seeing holding radio transistors to monitor what is going on across the state.

However, two complaints were lodged to our correspondents. Azeez Saheed, an agent of All Progressive Congress, (APC) complained that INEC did not give him tag so he had to hang his letter of appointment so as to be able to monitor the election. He however appeal to the relevant authority to ensure that his INEC tag is given to him so that security agents would not stop him from monitoring the election.

Also, some voters found it difficult to locate their polling units as they complained that their polling units were not where they registered. Oladosu Caleb Olayemi an aggrieved voter said that he was not able to locate ward 7, unit 6, where he was supposed to be accredited. “I have searched and searched. I came from a long distance and I have trekked about two hours today trying to locate my unit but unfortunately, I have not be able to trace it,” Oladosu stated.

Among the area monitored were: ward 4 units 6-8, and 18-20; Onward and Pepsi areas ward 6, unit 1-4; ward 7, unit 1-5; ward 7, unit 1-5 and ward 8, unit 1-12.

Among the polling agents who were satisfied with the accreditation are: Taiwo Lukman of ADC, Owolabi Nuru of NCP, Ojo Olatunji of ADC, Atinuke Jinadu of PDP, Bamidele Bamiduro of LP, Yinusa Omotunde of ADC, Mrs. Oyeyemi Fatima of ADC, Garfar Raufu of PDP, Raimi Lukman of APC, Adeagbo Wasiu of ADC, Adeyemi C Y of PDP, Ronke Akande of PPA, and Yusuf Fatomide of NDP.
