The FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed will on Monday hold a strategic meeting with health personnel to fashion out measures and strategies that could contain the spread of the dreaded Ebola virus to Abuja.

The Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Nosike Ogwuenyi, who said this in an interview, explained that the meeting was part of proactive steps to put in place appropriate policies and programmes to protect the residents of the Federal Capital Territory from the viral infection.

Ogwuenyi stated that the FCT Administration would not be caught napping by the disease, hence the move by the minister to deploy the necessary facilities and personnel to check the disease from spreading to the FCT.

According to him, experience has shown that the only way to curb it is to put in place preventive measures that can stop the spread of the virus.

He said, “Yes, we are working hard to ensure that the virus does not spread to the FCT and that is why the Minister is meeting with health personnel and other top officials at his residence on Monday to strategise and put in place measures to prevent the spread of the disease to the FCT.

“We are being proactive, we cannot afford to be caught napping.”
