Large crowd of delegates from the 23 local government areas of Kaduna state, northern Nigeria on Saturday 23 August endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan and Kaduna governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero as their candidates in the 2015 presidential and governorship elections.
Political appointees and party chieftains were among the delegates who made the endorsement on Saturday at a town hall meeting held at Umaru Musa Indoor Sports Hall, Kaduna.
At the meeting, delegates agreed to give the two candidates automatic tickets, without the need to go for primaries.
The motion for the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Yero was moved by the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Abubakar Gaiya Haruna. It was seconded by Jagaba Jagaba Adams, a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Kachia/Kargarko constituency.
According to the state party chairman, the endorsement resolution would be submitted to the National chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu for approval.
