Nigerians have commended the Federal Government and Lagos State government for swift response to the deadly Ebola Virus Disease. An educationalist, Mr Iyola Fadiya, on Saturday commended the Federal Government’s quick response to combat Ebola virus disease outbreak in the country.
Fadiya told NAN in Abuja that the Federal and the Lagos State government took proactive steps to stop the virus from spreading.
He said that government had actually done well to create awareness on the virus as well as providing the needful to fight the disease.
According to him, other states and local governments in the country should intensify efforts in their preventive measures against the deadly disease.
He also urged the stakeholders, non-governmental organisation and international bodies to assist in addressing the plague in West Africa.
Similarly, Mrs Nike Aluko, an environmentalist, said the Federal Government should be applauded for the steps taken so far in tackling Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria.
Aluko, however, said that much still needed to be done to prevent the disease from spreading to all parts of the country.
He appreciated the World Health Organisation (WHO) for its strategy plan to combat Ebola virus in the West Africa over the next six to nine months.
Joseph Bamgboye told PM News that Nigerians have adequate knowledge of the virus because of the effort put into sensitisation by the federal government and Lagos state government. “You see people with hand sanitisers everywhere and some refusing to shake people because of the level of awareness of the virus.
“The Federal government and Lagos state government should be applauded for a job well done. We hope to see more of this,” he said.
Omotola Jesusina, President Youth for Good Governance said that the synergy between the federal government and is good for Nigeria democracy. “Its good that the federal government and a state from a different party can have a good rapport of the lives of their citizens. PDP and APC working together is rarity but one that’s good for our democracy,” she said, noting that the federal government and the opposition party failed to agree on how to tackle Boko Haram.
