The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that the main priority of the party is to produce a credible candidate who is capable of winning election in the state as well as taking the state to a higher level.

The state Secretary of APC, Mr. Chidi Okonji, who disclosed this Thursday in Asaba, dismissed the clamour for power shift in 2015 by the Anioma people of Delta North Senatorial district.

“The APC in Delta believes in internal democracy. APC is not talking of rotation. The party is looking for that man who is accessible and who can win the governorship election and solve the problems of the state.

“We are not saying that power must go to Delta North, Central or South. The constitution of APC is very clear. Everybody should contest. Whoever emerges from the primaries will pick the ticket,” Okonji said.

The scribe who reminded the party fateful that only one person will emerge through a primary said the process will be free and fair, adding that, the party strongly believes in internal democracy.

Okonji who insisted that his ethnic origin is in the suburbs of the party’s strategy for the governorship race, also dispelled rumours that some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirants are scheming to fly the opposition party’s flag should they lose out in the ruling party’s primary.

He said the Director of Lagos Business School, Prof. Pat Utomi, former running mate to Chief Great Ogboru in the 2011 governorship election, Chief Fidelis Tilijie and Olorogun Emerhor Otega have indicated interest in the party’s ticket.
