Senator Bukola Saraki has lauded the effort of Nigeria’s military men following scathing attack on Nigerian troops by its citizens particularly on social media. Saraki, a senator representing Kwara Central said Nigerians need to appreciate Nigerian troops that have laid down their lives for the security of others.

The former governor of Kwara was full of praise for Nigerian troops amidst their defiance in the face of terrorism.

On his Twitter account, the All Progressives Congress chieftain wrote: “Our military men do not announce each victory, or milestone achieved. They go about their work each day. Keeping Nigeria Sovereign and peaceful”.

He then urged Nigerians to be grateful to them for the selfless service they render to individuals and the nation as a whole.

“As you go about your daily activities today if you see a man or woman in uniform, thank them for their service to our great nation”he remarked.

Saraki noted that Nigerian need to change their mindset towards men in uniform particularly because they have ensured that the safety of lives and property.

“The job of Nigerian military men and women is often a ‘thankless’ job – because we often do not know the lengths to which they have gone to protect us,” he wrote on Twitter.

Nigerian troops have come under fierce attack following reports that Islamist sect, Boko Haram, had claimed Bama, a town in Borno state.

Defence Headquarters spokesman, Major General Chris Olukolade took to Twitter to squashed the claims that Islamist sect has taken control of Bama. “Bama is not in the hands of Terrorists; situation in the region is being contained-BornoState Government,” he tweeted.
