Jonathan must contest second term – MMG

The Mass Movement for Goodluck (MMG), a political group rooting for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan, said it would put overwhelming pressure on the president to run for a second term.
The Director-General of the group, Mr Keneth Ibe, said this in Abakaliki on Friday during the inauguration of the Ebonyi chapter of the group.
Ibe said the members were motivated to ensure the president’s re-election and would not allow any individual or person to hijack its activities.
He said that the association was a “brain child” of former Deputy Governors Forum in the country of which President Jonathan was a member.
“The president has no option than to contest; we would surround the Aso Rock premises to mandate him to run and would not leave until he accepts to run.
“We have adequately mobilised the people for the president; this group can be found in all local government areas of the country and several African and other countries of the world.
“The president remains the best candidate for the job; he is the best president to have ruled this country and one who has mostly transformed it in all ramifications,” he said.
Ibe said that the group was targeting at least three ministerial slots after Jonathan’s re-election in 2015.
“The members have not received money from any quarter to prosecute their activities but its funds are sourced within, in the bid to ensure the president’s re-election.
Another group rooting for the president’s re-election, The Jonathan Mandate Group (JOMAG), has urged Nigerians to re-elect the president in next year’s election to continue delivering dividends of democracy.
According to the group, the president has achieved giant strides in areas such as good road networks, housing schemes, health, education, security, and agriculture since he assumed office.
