A PDP chieftain, Prof Jibril Aminu, has urged delegates to put the state above any other interest in deciding the party’s flag bearer for the 11 October governorship bye-election in Adamawa.

NAN reports that over 800 delegates from the 21 local government areas of the state are expected to choose the party’s candidate on Saturday for the election.

There are six aspirants contesting for the party’s ticket in the primary.

They are acting governor, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri; Dr Ahmed Modibbo, Dr Umar Ardo, Mr Jerry Kundisi, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa and Alhaji Ahmed Gulak.

Aminu, a member of the party’s Board of Trustees, told NAN that Adamawa had suffered enough and all things possible needed to be done not to repeat past mistakes.

“There is no state that suffered like us, therefore, whatever they (delegates) do must be something that will help Adamawa,” he said.

On the eight aspirants who stepped down from the race, Aminu said it was a welcome development, adding that it would reduce tension and make the contest much easier.

NAN reports that accreditation of delegates was ongoing as at 2:15 p.m

The earlier accreditation done was, however, cancelled with no reason given for the action.
