Cabal Plans To Smuggle Gov Suntai Into Nigeria

Like it happened last year, an unnamed cabal is planning to smuggle ailing Governor Danbaba Suntai of Nigeria’s Taraba State into country, the Concerned Citizens of Taraba has alleged.

The group, in an advertorial on Monday said the latest plot to bring the governor into the country was aimed at disrupting political peace in the state with an ultimate goal being for the sick Suntai to take over the reins of power the state from the acting governor, thereby launching another round of political chaos in the state.

Suntai got into his present condition after his private jet, which he piloted himself, crashed late 2012 just months after his deputy, Sani Abubakar, was impeached.

“Nigerians would remember how Governor Suntai was packaged into the country last year, how the gentleman saved by God was nationally caricatured through several botched and stage-managed shows and how he was again bundled out of the country in the dead of the night when his condition was deteriorating.

“The turmoil created by attempt of the cabal to rule by proxy, to transmit false letter of assumption of duty allegedly written by Suntai and to tamper with governmental structures is still fresh in the minds of Tarabans,” the group said in the statement signed by Mr. Isiac Joshua, its co-ordinator.

It further explained that Governor Suntai was moved to London following his worsening state of health in Nigeria after he was allegedly smuggled in from an American hospital.

The Concerned Citizens of Taraba said that in London, the medical experts blamed those who earlier took him to Nigeria when he had not fully recovered and quoted the medical team as saying: “it was inhuman for Suntai’s enemies masquerading as friends to have endangered his life by using him as a toy in political chessgame.”

According to the group, the cabal has decided to shun medical advice that for the governor to live, he must avoid anything strenous and rigorous, by planning to return him any moment from now.

“Our dear Suntai, unable to control his life, is at the mercy of these desperadoes who had moved him into outpatient section even when his condition has not improved.

“We have report that the governor is being injected with energy pills to build him up for the next power grab drama of the cabal.

“Our governor is now, as before, a toy in the hands of agents of darkness desperate to rule Taraba by proxy,” the group said, adding that part of the agenda by the cabal is to take the ailing governor to the state House of Assembly from the airport to present a purported letter of assumption of duty as governor ot Taraba State.

“The governor will then announce dissolution of the State Executive Council and launch an impeachment bid against the acting governor,” the group alleged, saying that, like last year, recorded state broadcast clips and fake letters had been prearranged to further achieve the purpose.

The group which posed many questions to the ‘cabal’, condemned the move and called it “reprehensible as much as it is cruel.

“It is (a) condemnable attempt to set back Taraba’s clock of progress for an unrealisable agenda of a few.”

It urged the acting governor to remain steadfast in holding forte for his boss in the face of the fresh onslaught while pleading with the State House of Assembly to resist what it called governance by proxy.

It called on President Goodluck Jonathan to call the cabal to order, advised that due process should be followed by the State Assembly, while “the National Assembly should take note of this new drama designed to create mayhem after relative peace of the past few months.”
