Sokoto CP commends APC for peaceful rally

The Sokoto State Police Command, has commended politicians in the state for their maturity that led to the peaceful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) zonal rally held in Sokoto on 8 September.

Alhaji Shuaibu Gambo, the State Police Commissioner, made the commendation on Tuesday in Sokoto in an interview with NAN.

He said that the cooperation the police received from the politicians led to the orderly conduct of the rally.

He promised that the command would continue to provide a level playing ground for all politicians in the state to ensure smooth conduct of elections in the state.

Gambo advised politicians to do more in sensitising their supporters to tolerate each other. He warned that the command would not tolerate any form of violence from politicians.

The CP said the command had put stringent security measures in place to arrest any person or group of persons who wish to disrupt the peace and harmonius relationship existing among the people of the state.

“We have deployed plain clothes security personnel to gather intelligence reports that will aid us in preventing crime across the state,” he said.

The commissioner urged the people to carry on with their legitimate activities, adding that security measures had been put in place to guarantee their safety.
