Al-makura urges parents to give priority to Western, Islamic education

Governor Umaru Al-makura of Nasarawa state on Wednesday renewed his call for Muslims to accord top priority to Western and Islamic education for their children.
Al-makura made the call when members of the Nasarawa State branch of the Muslim Students Association of Nigeria visited him at the Government House, Lafia.
According to him, this is the only way Muslims can contribute meaningfully to peace, unity and development of the country.
“We cannot endeavour to contribute our own quota to the socio-economic development of Nigeria if we neglect the pursuit of both Western and religious education,” he said.
“As future leaders of the country, it will do us good if parents give priority to religious and Western education”.
Al-makura said this was the only way their children would take up leadership roles in the future.
The governor urged the Muslim body to prevail on other students to shun cultism, drug abuse, exam malpractice, among others.
Al-makura said the Muslim body would soon be involved in resolving conflicts at the community level.
Leader of the delegation and Amirul of Muslim Student Society in Nasarawa State, Isah Shuaibu, said its membership was open to all Muslim brothers.
Shuaibu commended Al-makura for embarking on developmental projects that had direct bearing on the people of the state.
He condemned the renewed crisis in some parts of the state and called on warring communities to give peace a chance for the state to move forward.
