Breach Of Contract: Lecturer, Laspotech Annex Operators Trade Tackles

One of the Directors of Studies/Accredited Representative of the Abesan Annex of Lagos State Polytechnic, LASPOTECH, Kayode Agbola Abudu, has lamented an alleged breach of contract by DIO Educational Service Limited.

Abudu, who is also an associate Economics lecturer at LASPOTECH, stated that his appointment with the company was terminated without his employers sticking to the terms of the contract that they all signed when he was initially brought on board.

In a chat with P.M.NEWS Campus Square, Abudu explained how he got into business with fellow lecturers; Kofoworola Abiodun Olayinka, Iginla Ayodeji, Dosunmu Oladipo and Jacob Adewuyi who all had dealings with the educational group.

He said: “Koforolola Abiodun Olayinka whose alias is Babylon, is a principal lecturer at the department of marketing with a first degree in mass communications. He was a one-time chairman of ASUP, and a member of the 10th Governing Council of Lagos State Polytechnic.

“Aside being a public servant, he is the Director in a Registered company – DIO Educational Service Limited, which is the consultant managing Abesan Annex of the Lagos State Polytechnic.

Mr. Abudu, who claimed to have run the business on behalf of the company with his money, disclosed that he was not paid his rightful entitlements when his appointment was terminated after three years of setting up the annex with a total population of about 1,500 students and N38million collected as 45 per cent from the polytechnic during the period aside other revenues.

According to him, “I single -handedly mobilized unprecedented student enrolment and personally financed the take off of the programme, ranging from the payment of the use of schools, printing of posters and handbills, payment of staff salaries and a lot more.”

Abudu stated that his appointment was terminated as a result of a running battle between Kofoworola Olayinka and Ayodeji Babatunde Iginla, the immediate past Rector of the polytechnic, who brought him into the business.

After the termination of his appointment, series of reconcilliatory meetings were held between him, DIO and LASPOTECH’s representative, where it was discovered that Mr. Kayode Abudu had since fulfilled his side of the agreement,

“I am saddened and uncontrollably shocked that my former employer till now has not deemed it necessary, befitting and rewarding to adhere strictly to the terms and conditions of service as expressly penned down and signed by Kofoworola Olayinka, on behalf of DIO Educational Service Ltd.”

Since the termination of his appointment in 2009, series of efforts had been made to ensure that the money is paid.

“Despite the fact that the Special Adviser on education intervened, Kofo refused to give in and this has made me unemployed for the past five years as I withdrew my appointment as a classroom teacher with the Teaching Service Commission, Ministry of Education shortly after the appointment with DIO Educational Service Limited to avoid contravening the Civil Service Rule and cheating on my government.

Speaking on the claims made by Abudu, Jacob Adewuyi told our correspondent that he was unaware of the allegations stating that: “I know him as a person but I don’t know about the issue on ground. How can he be having issues with me when I am no longer in the system he is talking about? I was even with him some days ago he never said anything of such to me.”

Koforolola Olayinka, on his part, asked for time to discuss with other directors of DIO Educational Service Limited.

He later told our reporter to stay off the story that it is an issue between an employee and his employer.

“I don’t know anything about Abudu’s allegation, tell him I said I don’t have any issue with him and if there is anybody he should be frowning at, that definitely is not me.”

“We hired Mr. Kayode Abudu and we fired him when his service was no longer relevant to us. Why should he now be making case against us?” he added.

LASPOTECH image maker, Mr. Lanre Kuye, told our correspondent that the school management has nothing to do with consultants hired by the school.

Former Rector of LASPOTECH, Ayodeji Babatunde Iginla, denied knowing anything about the whole issue.

Findings have revealed that Kofoworola Abiodun Olayinka has gone to court to seek an order restraining the police from arresting him.

Abudu has appealed to the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola(SAN) and well meaning Lagosians to look into the matter.
