The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has directed its sector commander in Lagos state to probe the identity of the hit-and-run driver, who allegedly killed Mr Dimgba Igwe, the vice chairman of Sun Group.

Igwe died in an accident in Lagos on Saturday.

The directive was contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson of the commission, Mrs Stella Ochegbu, in Abuja on Wednesday.

The statement said the Corps Marshal of FRSC, Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, gave the directive in a condolence message to the family of the late Igwe.

“We will most appreciate relevant information from those who witnessed the fatal crash and other details of the vehicle, such as the colour and number plate.

“This is to enable us get to the root of this unfortunate matter,” he said.

The corps marshal described Igwe as an intellectual icon, whose death was a great loss to the media industry.

Oyeyemi said it was sad that in spite of all the commission was doing to inculcate the culture of safe driving in drivers, some still engaged in reckless driving.
