The new Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Cornelius K. Aderanti assumed duty Thursday. He took over from his predecessor, Umar Manko, who was promoted as Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 2, Onikan, Lagos.
The brief hand over ceremony took place at the Lagos Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos State, western Nigeria.
The event was witnessed by Area Commanders, DPOs from various divisions and commands in the state.
Aderanti promised to build on the legacies of his predecessors and to intensify the fight against all forms of crimes and criminality in Lagos State.
He noted that Lagos State is the commercial hub of the nation and has the largest population in the country and promised to do his best to maintain peace and security of life and property in the state.
The new commissioner thanked the Nigerian Police for giving him the opportunity to serve in Lagos State.
Aderanti joined the Nigeria Police Force in January 1984 as a cadet ASP. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Ibadan.
He has served within and outside the country at the United Nations as training instructor and occupied various positions within and outside Nigeria.
