Former French international midfielder Florent Malouda has signed a one-year contract, with an option for a second season, to play for Metz in the French first division.

Malouda has been without a club since leaving Turkish side Trabzonspor in August due to a disagreement with manager Vahid Halilhodzic.

“Metz is a historic club with a presitigious past,” said Malouda, who was born in Cayenne, French Guiana.

“I felt a real ambition at the club, there’s a real coherence in their project.”
