The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC) on Friday restated that it had not changed its plan to conduct the governorship by-election in all parts of Adamawa on 11 October.

Mr Oluwole Osaze-Uzi, the INEC Director of Voter Education and Publicity, said this in an interview with NAN in Abuja on Friday.

“We are continuing with our plan to hold election in all parts of the state, but subject to security clarification,” Osaze-Uzi said.

He said that the commission was still working with security agencies to ensure that it provided adequate security for voters to exercise their civic responsibility during the election.

NAN recalls that the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) in Adamawa has maintained that the by-election will hold in spite of security challenges in parts of the state.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the date for the Adamawa State by-election is still October 11, 2014,” the committee said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
