Sokoto govt. has no plans to ban Okada

Sokoto State Government has said that it has no immediate plan to ban commercial motorcycle operation in the
state.
The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Aliyu Wamakko on Media, Malam Sani Umar, stated this in an interview with NAN in Sokoto on Friday.
According to Umar, the state government is not nursing any plan to ban commercial motorcycles from operating in the state as it has been done in some states in the country.
Instead, he said that efforts were being made by the state government to fully register all the commercial motorcycles operating in the state.
“This is to ensure that they operate within the laws of the country and also monitor their daily activities and movement,” he explained.
Umar, however, said that the state government had directed the temporary halt on the registration of the commercial motorcycles “to clear some misgivings and ill-feelings about the registration.”
“There is no cause for alarm, but the ‘kabu-kabu’ operators should conduct their business in an orderly manner,” he stated.
