A General Assembly of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has fixed Tuesday 30 September 2014 for the Elective Congress of the football body.

The decision was taken on Saturday during an Extra-Ordinary General Assembly of the NFF held in Warri, Delta State.

A Communique issued at the end of the meeting and signed by Sir E.C. Chukwuemeka, the chairman of the Communique Drafting Committee, says the Congress passed a resolution that the election, which will be held in Warri, Delta State, should be credible and transparent.

“The Congress unanimously affirmed the FIFA directive that the 2014 Elective Congress shall be composed of only delegates that attended the November 2013 Annual General Assembly in Warri,” the Communique read.

Ahead of the upcoming elections into the NFF Executive Committee, the Congress composed a new NFF Electoral Committee with Barrister. Samson Ebomhe, Barrister M. T. Ahmed, Mr. Adamu Sani Usman, Mr. Sadiq Yusuf Zaria, Reverend Onyeaghala Obioma, Engineer Adeola Adelanwa, Alhaji Sani Dahiru Yakassai, Barrister Awwal Mohammed and Mrs. Sarah Jumoke Adebisi as members, while Secretary General of the NFF, Musa Amadu, will serve as secretary.

The Congress also named a new NFF Electoral Appeals Committee with Barrister Okey Ajunwa, Mr. Dotun Coker, Mallam Sani Mohammed, Mr. Victor Nwangwu and Mr. Bala Garba are members, while Muhammed Sanusi will serve as secretary.

The Congress praised the courage and resilience of the NFF Executive Committee led by Alhaji Aminu Maigari, in the face of the recent crisis that threatened the fabric of Nigeria Football.

It also poured encomiums on the Nigerian media for standing by the truth and clearly supporting what is just in the thick of the recent crisis.

The General Assembly was full of praises for the Delta State Government, the representative of the Minister/Chairman, National Sports Commission, NSC, Dr. Bolaji Ojo-Oba, the representative of the Director General of the NSC, Mr. Alhassan Saleh Yakmut, the Delta State Sports Commission, Chairmen of the Sports Committees of the National Assembly, CAF members, Etubom Paul Bassey and Mrs. Aisha Falode, former NFF board member, Dr. Peter Singabele and former NFF General Secretary, Fanny Amun, MON for their tremendous supports towards the success of the Extra-Ordinary General Assembly.
