Minister of State for Works, Adedayo Adeyeye, on Friday condemned the murder on Thursday of former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Omolafe Aderiye.

Aderiye, who is a Peoples Democratic Party chieftain, was murdered on Thursday night by yet-to-be-identified persons in Ado-Ekiti.

The minister, in a statement issued by his Director-General, Mr Bisi Kolawole, in Ado-Ekiti, urged security agents in the state to fish out those responsible for the murder.

Adeyeye described Aderiye’s murder as a barbaric act that should not be allowed to go unresolved.

The statement quoted Adeyeye as saying that he was pained that the “quest by some people to remain in power against the people’s will could be allowed to degenerate to this level”.

“My heart is very heavy. My heart bleeds. This is painful and I am worried!

“I am worried because it never occurred to me that we could be faced with murder of innocent souls and violent reactions, leading to destruction of properties.

“Obviously, those who carried out the dastardly act on Thursday are haters of Ekiti and its people and the Almighty God will expose them.

“I urge the police and other security agencies to do everything possible to fish out the perpetrators and masterminds of the murder,” the minister said.
