Indications emerged on Friday that the Ogun state deputy governor, Prince Segun Adesegun, and some members of the National Assembly have unofficially dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Action Group of Nigeria (AGN).
PM News had it on good authority that the deputy governor, who is a close ally of the former governor and a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Olusegun Osoba, was at the senatorial meeting of the new party held at both the Ogun East and Ogun Central on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
Adesegun has been conspicuously absent at the ongoing local government tour by the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun to all 20 local government areas in the state, except for the first trip to Imeko-Afon local government area.
A reliable source who craved anonymity, told our correspondent that while the governor was on the tour of Ikenne and Ijebu North council areas on Wednesday and Thursday, his deputy, Prince Segun Adesegun and factional members of the APC loyal to the former governor, Chief Olusegun under the aegis of “Matagbamole Group”, were at a meeting in different locations in the state.

It will be recalled that the APC in the state has been divided over leadership control between Amosun and Osoba, which resulted into each sides conducting parallel primaries during the last primaries of the party across the country.
At the Ogun East Senatorial meeting of the new party, which was held in Ijebu-Ode, the deputy governor, Prince Segun Adesegun was reported to have urged members of the group to remain steadfast and committed to their beliefs.
Our correspondent gathered that members of the National Assembly from the senatorial district were not physically present at the meeting, but they were said to have sent their word and their people to be part of the meeting.
It was confirmed that the new party would hold meetings at the local government levels from Saturday 27 September till next weekend while the formal inauguration of the party is scheduled to hold after the celebration of the Ileya festival.
When our correspondent contacted one of the Federal lawmakers, Senator Sefiu Adegbenga Kaka to comment on the development, he disclosed that members of the pressure group, “Matagbamole Group”, are members of the political association, urging its members to continue to exercise patience for further directive.
Kaka explained that on the next line of action by the group would be given before the end of the month.
